COVID-19 update Vaccinations information 1 April 2021
MACS has been informed by Public Health Network – Western Victoria that our residents will be receiving their Pfizer COVID19 vaccination on the 15th April.
We have met with representatives of the company who will be administering the vaccines and we have devised a plan to ensure that all our residents who have consented to the vaccine will receive it in a safe and well organised manner.
The Chapel will be used as our vaccination centre and residents will be facilitated to and from the area as required. Our Wellbeing team, as well as some extra nursing staff who will be rostered on for the day, will assist with logistics on the day.
At present, we have two residents who have cold-like symptoms which has prompted us to close down Gerda’s House until all people with these symptoms have been declared negative for COVID-19 testing. Families will be notified once Gerda’s House is re-opened. Should this occur over the weekend, we will notify Gerda’s House families by email.
In addition to this, in Annie O’Malley House, residents have been restricted to their rooms to prevent the spread of cold/flu. However, visitors are not restricted in Annie O’Malley House. We are hopeful at this stage that room restrictions are likely to be lifted by lunch time tomorrow. Any deviation to this plan will be notified to families by email.
On a final note, as previously advised, the merger between MACS and Diversitat is progressing well and the merged entity is Multicultural Community Services Geelong. I am very pleased to advise that our Joy Leggo has been appointed as the CEO of Multicultural Community Services Geelong and will take up the position on the 3rd of May. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Joy on this new position. Further information will be coming to you in relation to this in the coming weeks.
Take care everyone and please continue to wash those hands x 2, keep on social distancing and make sure you wear your mask especially at MACS!!
